As coastal and maritime surveillance operations are also increasingly expected to shoulder greater responsibilities, operators are increasingly turning towards innovative technological solutions beyond rudimentary deployments of unmanned systems. Emerging technological solutions have not only reduced the strain on manpower resources and operational budgets, but also enhanced the effectiveness of surveillance operations, and by extension, national security.
In this report we explore three emerging technologies; VIDAR, Tethered aerostats and deep learning artificial intelligence. We look at the how, what and why of this emerging tech. These are the technologies piped to fundamentally alter how surveillance missions are done in the future.
